The latest report from Dun & Bradstreet and portal Verdict Biedronka came out pretty well in the rankings.
During the economic downturn the best deal have large grocery chains. Confirmation is Biedronka, currently numbering more than 1,410 stores in large and small cities across the Poland. Shops are visited daily by more than 2 million customers.
The company has an excellent financial condition. In 2008, the retail chain reached 350 million zł net profit. The year 2008 proved to be so record in the history of the company.
Profits have also other networks. The trade report for the prior year chain of stores Żabka Poland has shown sales at close to 2 billion zł. This allowed for a profit of more than 6 million zł.
Success of networks should be seen mainly through the implementation of many loyalty programs, which are inherently attached brand to the client’s - by Thomas Starzyk in the “Financial Gazette”.
Analysts expect a further expansion of discount stores. Their advantage is lower prices, which are the basic criterion for the selection of consumers in difficult times of crisis.
